TRUSTED SINCE 1972
We have a rich heritage of providing chemical solutions for a wide variety of applications, with first-class customer service.
In this special year that marks Dimachem's 50th anniversary, we would like to thank all of our valued partners and loyal customers who have supported and trusted us towards our success. Without you, we would not be where we are today. Thank you for helping us achieve our drive for continuous growth!
As our company grows, our community grows with us. Our government has invested $850K through the Ontario Together Fund in our company to make 12 million bottles of The Clorox Company Pine-Sol® per year. This expands Ontario’s domestic supply of critical disinfectants to get us through the COVID-19 pandemic and ensure future preparedness. We are so proud to have pivoted our business to become one of Ontario’s leading suppliers of disinfectant and Clorox’s Canadian manufacturer of Pine-Sol®.
When COVID-19 hit, we wanted to contribute to keeping Canadians safe. Dimachem pivoted quickly and employed our chemical expertise and existing manufacturing capabilities to bring high volumes of made-in-Canada hand sanitizers and disinfectants to meet the urgent need.
PPG purchased the paint pretreatment book of business from Chemfil Canada Ltd. As Dimachem Inc., we reorganized our operations to focus exclusively on toll manufacturing, paint strippers, industrial cleaners and degreasers, stamping lubricants, coolants and other specialty industrial chemicals.
The entire Chemfil family was saddened by the loss of our infamous and feisty founder Frank William Butterworth, April 29, 1940 – August 27, 2013.
We grew from a small, regional pretreatment company into a dominant force in the Canadian market. Earning 100% market share with Ford, GM and Chrysler, as well as a significant position with Toyota and Honda, PPG Chemfil Canada became known as an industry leader in automotive paint pretreatment.
We were a pioneer in launching Zirconium pretreatment (zinc phosphate replacement) technology and we expanded into toll manufacturing, paint strippers, industrial cleaners and degreasers, stamping lubricants, coolants and other specialty industrial chemicals.
PPG acquired half of Chemfil Canada Ltd. and we began operating under the trade name, “PPG Chemfil Canada”. Running as an independent business unit, we consistently met and exceeded all of PPG’s stringent facility, business, quality and environmental audits.
Chemist and entrepreneur Frank Butterworth founded Chemfil Canada Ltd. In the early years, Frank gained major paint pretreatment approvals with Chrysler and Ford.
